Drew Barrymore, the well known Hollywood actress, has released her own wine for the first time.
Joining other Hollywood figures who have released their own wines (Francis Ford Coppola, Antonia Banderas and Dan Aykroyd) Drew Barrymore’s first step into the wine business is to release a limited production Pinot Grigio from Northern Italy. Drew Barrymore’s Pinot Grigio will be made from grapes grown in the Veneto region of North East Italy, will be dry and fruity and will contain 12% alcohol. Drew Barrymore’s California-based distributor (Wilson Daniels) has been quoted as saying that Drew Barrymore’s new wine is a pale straw colour and offers hints of “fresh apricot and lively citrus flavours”.
Each bottle of Drew Barrymore’s new wine will be labelled with the Barrymore family crest and the Pinot Grigio del Venezie designation.
The Drew Barrymore Pinot Grigio del Venezie will be vinified and aged in stainless steel tanks prior to bottling.
2000 cases of the 2011 Drew Barrymore Pinot Grigio del Venezie have been shipped to the United States, where it will retail at $19.99 a bottle.
